Market Brief: A busy festive period We are fast approaching the end of the year with Christmas just three weeks away and traditionally this is a quieter time for estate agency as people try to be settled in the run up to the festive period.
However, it has been one of the busiest times of the year for sales and lettings, with the post Brexit malaise starting to lift as buyers, sellers and tenants start to realise that life carries on and, despite the fact Brexit has not even started, this could be a very long and drawn out process if in fact it ever truly takes place.
We are already listing properties in readiness for the New Year push as traditionally the number of buyers looking to move surges, as can be seen with the Rightmove statistics, which highlight that post- Christmas lunch, hits on their website jump by over three million visitors from the previous few days.
There are a lot of exciting new developments within the city and we will be launching Clementhorpe Maltings in January 2017.
This is a small development of just 6 houses situated just off Bishopthorpe Road.
The recent announcement in the Autumn Statement that letting fees to tenants will be banned is no real surprise as some agents have been far too greedy in their push for profit and this must be looked at as an opportunity to provide a better service to our tenants and landlords across the industry.
We wish you all a very happy Christmas and prosperous 2017 and look forward to seeing you shortly.
