5 things to do in York this Easter weekend York is a magnificent place to live, with a rich history and plenty of cultural events to be enjoyed.

With Easter weekend just around the corner, here are five events that will be taking place in the city.

1- York Easter family festivalYork’s Parliament Street will play host to a variety of entertainment all weekend including street food, chocolate vendors, funfair rides, facing painting, reptile displays and Viking activities from 10am – 4pm (11am on Easter Sunday).

  2- York Chocolate FestivalYork has a proud history of links with the confectionery and chocolate industry from as far back as 1781 when the city boasted eight confectioners.

Today York remains home to the Nestle factory and was the birthplace of many a favourite chocolate bar.

  York’s Chocolate Festival which runs from Friday 25th – Monday 28th March will include chocolate demonstrations, live music and much more.

3 - National Railway MuseumThe National Railway Museum is one of the top attractions in York and has a whole host of different activities on over the Easter holidays including ‘Build Your Own Flying Scotsman’ and an enjoyable miniature railway.

4 - Easter Vintage FestivalFrom the 24th March – 11th April a vintage fair will be held in Parliament Street, York City Centre together with a restored train ride and game stalls for the children to enjoy.

5 - Victorian weekend at York Castle MuseumYork Castle Museum will host a series of events throughout the Easter weekend with egg and spoon races, treasure hunts and prize draw competitions.

Admission is £10 for adults but children under 16 go free with one paying adult.
